My initial use of this towel has been thoroughly acceptable. I honestly didn't expect it to dry as well as it has, and conversely, dry itself as well as it has. The little button loop also makes it handy to hang up after using for more suitable drying techniques (i.e. letting it hang off a pack strap or a branch without getting the towel itself covered in leaves, twigs, dirt, etc.).
While I have not had the opportunity to test and investigate its capabilities more thoroughly, thus far I have been pleasantly happy with the towel. Good job, S2S. I will report back if I have any updates on the performance and longevity of the towel.
first motorcycle camping trip with it: L cobalt made good bath towel but XL would have made better towel for lounge chairs when encountered. drys body nice, hair too, takes a bit longer to dry than i like (while packing up in morning, and we're not very quick about it ) but small & easy enough to throw in saddlebag and pull out at longer fuel/food stops & that does the job. (packtowl personal towel seems to dry a bit quicker, bought one of each to compare.) used several times over 6 weeks out. laundered a few times, came out of washer and dryer with all the clothes just fine.
I used the small towel for my 2 week backpacking trip to Costa Rica. Towel came in handy washing my face and hands in fresh waterfalls and rivers, using public bathrooms with no towels, drying myself repeatedly during a full monsoon watching a live soccer match. Also, wet the towel and wrap behind your neck to cool off when hiking. Fast drying after you squeeze excess water.
How does one review a towel? I get wet, rub myself with this towel and I'm dry. It does dry itself really quick without any help. I do have to say the one really cool thing about this towel is you can roll it up and make the perfect rat tail with it. It would have been perfect for gym class. It's dang near lethal.Ken
This towel is perfect for camping and travel. The Large is big enough to wear after a shower, and packs down to nothing. The loop/snap is ideal for clipping to a tent or tree for drying purposes.
I bought 2 of these towels. xs for dishes and L for me. absorbs water greatly and once hung, dries itself quickly. only issue is the snap loop. great idea but came off after second use.
Good to have out on the trail to dry off after rain or cleaning up. Doesn't take much room and pretty light. Thought it would have been a little more absorptive.
I bought the Blue Medium, good size for 5'5. It's a great towel for drying off, but it takes forever to dry, even in the sun it gets a moldy smell. It's also hard to get stains out of it - machine or hand washing. Pros are though that it can be folded down to almost nothing, absolutely essential for traveling and holds up well after many many uses. It fits it's price, just be ready to deal with a wet smelly towel at times...
This towel is a bear to get dry...it takes forever . And when your moving camp every day hiking it needs to dry quickly...great for base camps but not through hikes.
..Leave your steeze.
Pimp the backcountry with an effective, useful towel.
I go ultra light. I can do three days with 11 oz. in my pack. For me, I have a rule. Nothing goes into my kit unless it has three uses. So for this I had to do some thinking.
1. clean my face... Isn't that what a sleeve is for?
2. clean my cooking utensils... again SLEEVE!
3. get it wet and make it a whip for keeping away hostile animals or stinky hiking buddies.
So if you're a weight weenie, this is not a critical luxury. but if you do like to feel a little fresher in the morning, or maybe want to leave a little bit of the funk on the trail, this towel is a nice addition, without a big weight penalty. Remember: "ounces don't countses"
Ultimately, though, I prefer the MSR pack towel that was discontinued last year. super light, quick to dry, and never smells bad.
This one is mostly useful in yoga class since apparently everyone insists on 90* exercise rooms.
Took this on a trip to Israel. I used it to help dry my hand washed clothing. It got saturated quite fast, and took more than overnight to dry. I was hoping to find a towel that would be dry by the next morning because I was having to move locations every day, but I ended up having to deal with a moist towel when packing in the morning. Not sure if other towels would do any better though.
Well for what we paid for it was ok. heldup pretty good but it didn't ringout all the water. stayed wet and once it got wet it didn't dry you off. had to leave it out in the sun to dry...
