I purchased the girl's North Face Aconcagua jacket for my niece for Christmas and I was very pleased. She loved it!!! I own two of these jackets and the quality is superb. They are very warm and comfortable, and I have had no issues with any of the zippers on the girl's North Face jackets I purchased for two of my nieces last year, or both of mine. The only issue I had was with the sizing. There isn't a straight 16, just a 14-16 which was too small. Thanks to Backcountry's efficient service, they exchanged the jacket immediately for an 18 and honored the sale price. I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again!!
Got this for my daughter who loves blue so got her the Turquoise Blue - color looks nice and cheerful. Ordered in Large but had to return it and get an XL because the sleeves were too short and the jacket quite snug. I would suggest going up a size.
She likes it and has been wearing it everyday to school - and since it's been sub zero temperatures for us this winter I'm really glad she has this jacket. She has spent countless hours playing in the snow and stayed warm and dry. I don't think it's puffy but she wishes it was even less puffy.
I bought this coat (Girl's XL) in Silver for my 18 year old daughter who normally wears a Women's Med. It fits her perfectly except that the sleeves are a little short. She doesn't mind because she wears gloves to cover her wrists. It is a beautiful, nice quality coat at a reasonable price. It was shipped promptly and received in great condition. I would buy again from BackCountry because even if my daughter didn't like it, I like their return policy.
My daughter wanted a puffy (but not TOO puffy) down jacket and this one is perfect. It is slim fitting, and attractive but definitely still a down jacket, with all the warmth. She stood outside waiting for the bus in 20 degree weather, and said she was just as warm as sitting in the car. She wears a size 10, and I order the L. It fits perfectly. There's even a little room to grow.
Bought this for my daughter last year - size 10/12. Lightweight to carry around, and warm enough - but even better with a fleece underneath on those days below freezing. Might want to size up to be able to accomodate one. It *is* fitted. Sleeves are a little short, but it fits everywhere else. Size 14/16 (next size up) is far too big. Gloves cover up any exposed areas.
My daughter was refusing to wear her Lands End ski jacket to school claiming it was too bulky. She's been wearing the jacket for two straight weeks and not one complaint to date. Initially, I bought a size L based on the reviews that it runs small, but it was too big. She's a size 10-12 on top. The medium works well.
This jacket looks a lot better in real life than on the picture. Unfortunately it was too small for my niece. It seems to be a small fitting jacket compared to other North Face items we have. Have to return, I do like the backcountry return policy, it make me feel confident in ordering from them. Thank you!
Like the jacket a lot. The only issue with it is the sleeves are a bit short. My daughter is a tall somewhat lanky 12 year old and I am glad that I got the XL or else I am afraid the sleeves would have been more like a 3/4 sleeve.
As cute as these jackets were for my two girls, the zippers had issues on both. I bought a Spyder jacket to replace one and am trying a Patagonia of similar style to replace the other. My girls prefer the North Face brand because "that's what kids are wearing", but for quality, I was disappointed in these. I have had no issues in my North Face women's jackets that I own. Not sure what is going on with the zippers in these?
This jacket keeps me very warm,,fits me like a glove,,,but the feathers keep coming out !!! Also my daughter ordered the Aconcagua down jacket and her feather kept coming out ,she send it back and got one that was perfect...I am sending my jacket back, hopefully I will get a jacket that the feathers will not come out.
