Beneath this stylish exterior, you’ll find some serious technology, and a surprise or two. The Vortex is actually three jackets. It's an insulated ski jacket composed of a separate shell and liner, each of which do double-duty as stand-alone jackets. The shell is waterproof, breathable, and fully seam-sealed so you'll stay dry. It also has underarm vents, a powder skirt, and other great features that you'd expect from an iconic company like The North Face

The North Face Vortex Triclimate Jacket hits Mother Nature head-on to make your next ski adventure incredible, no matter what it's like outside. Either the shell jacket or the liner jacket can be worn alone or, depending on the weather, can be zipped together to form one ultra-mega jacket.

The Vortex's Triclimate system consists of a waterproof, breathable, fully seam-sealed HyVent 2-layer shell for protection and a toasty liner jacket for insulation. The shell features an adjustable, removable hood,  adjustable cuff tabs, and a snap-down powder skirt to lock out icy drafts and snow. The shell also includes zippered underarm vents to allow you to quickly regulate your core temperature. Two hand pockets, two chest pockets, a wrist accessory pocket with an included goggle wipe, and internal media and goggle pockets organize all your on-mountain necessities. The polyester liner jacket features Heatseeker synthetic insulation and two zippered hand pockets.

Keeps this always cold-guy, warm!

I was unhappy with my Condor Triclimate because I would still be cold under 30 degrees. I am 6'2, 170 and exchanged it for the medium size Vortex Triclimate. The size fits perfect and I'm finally warm. I even tested it in below zero degrees and I was still comfortable. I love the coat. I liked the style of the Condor better but I'm more about function. The internal sleeves are smooth which makes putting this coat on and taking it off a breeze, unlike the Condor. Overall I highly recommend this model.

Good jacket but has design flaw

Everything about this jacket is great except the fact that the zip-in liner is longer than the powder skirt. So... if you ski with the liner in, the powder skirt will be non-functional for all intents and purposes. Seems like a really dumb design to me. When the liner is out, the ends of the powder skirt can unsnap from the shell and snap around your waist. I'm no clothing designer, but it seems like this could have easily been avoided.

Great Jacket/Minor Concerns

I had my Triclimate jacket for about two weeks, and it is extremely comfortable and warm. I encourage anyone to go to a Northface store to figure out jacket size rather than guessing online through the Northface website. I thought I took a large and ended up with XXL. Too many factors go into fit to rely on pictures. Also, I'm beginning to have zipper issues (separating while fully zipped) as other reviews have stated.

Great Ski/Snowboard Jacket

Bought TNF MEN'S VORTEX TRICLIMATE JACKET to replace damaged TNF Extreme Jacket. Loved the fit and styling. Generous shoulder space for muscular frame. Not too long for short torso. Styling looks classy and sharp on the slopes. Zip out quilted lining allowed for easy drying of shell and liner at night. Durable shell passed through glades unfazed. Lots of pockets for gear. Bought matching TNF pants to complete outfit.

Awesome Coat!

We purchased this coat for our son, who is in college in a cold climate. He says the fit is great, and it is very warm! Love that he can put the layers together for extreme temperatures, or use them separately for different seasons.

Incredible Fit, Comfort and Style

jacket runs true to size. As soon as i received the jacket I hit the slopes the next day. This is the best jacket I have found to ski in without having to wear several layers. Super warm.
