In the line for over 10 years, the Miura is the perfect tool for performance footwork whether it be on slabs, vertical or overhanging steep rock. The high tensioned slingshot rand is tied into the powerhinge on the sole so that when small edges are weighted the shoe stretches in the back half of the shoe and not in the front. This allows you to stick on the smallest edges you can find or imagine! The multi-paneled lining gives you the perfect fit and the speed lacing system laces up in a cinch. A superior La Sportiva climbing shoe, the Miura excels at hard rock climbing, power edging, pockets ... pretty much whatever you want to put it through.

Positive Reviews:

Maybe too comfortable?

First off, I'm replacing some much loved Katana Velcro's. They weren't the best shoe (found amazing ways to wear them out - resole - repeat), but they got it done and I was happy.

For all of you Katana lovers moving to Miura Lace-ups, you can either stay same size or go a half size smaller. Read on to see what is right for you.

Size 10.5 (US) running shoe, ordered 41.5 Miura (same as old Katana's)

Mini-review:
I've only warn them at the gym twice. They were snug, nice suction cup action in the heal, and crazy comfortable. I can't decide if this is a bad thing . . . Leather uppers stretch, but this is a nice tight fit. You even hear that little suction pop when I slide my feet in. The problem is that my toes have never been so comfortable. (Mine are pretty long, and the first 3 are all the same length. I lovingly call them baby fingers.) Seriously, where's the pain? Where are the gnarled bruised knuckles on my ginormous toes 2 and 3? What ever happened to that painful break-in period?

Karmicly speaking, this will probably not end well. Maybe I should have gone a half size smaller? But wow are they comfy, hold on tight to those little chips, and no problems smearing. For reference, figure 5.9+ - 5.11 depending on how sandbagged or air-bagged your gym is. Our local gym doesn't like to waist money on big holds.)

So, how do I like the shoe? I love them! Not sure I went aggresive enough on the size, but wouldn't hesitate to get another pair.

This is a really great shoe. I normally wear a 42 Euro 9 U.S. in these shoes I had to size down to a 39 Euro or 6 1/2+ U.S. This is a lot more than I would usually size down so consider sizing down an extra 1/2 to a full size if you are switching brands. Also pay attention to the La Sportiva sizing cart it's a little different then the general Euro conversion http://www.zappos.com/download/L/a/S/LaSportivaSizeChart.gif. The shoe is fairly comfortable, which about as mush as you can expect out of a climbing shoe. The heel is really narrow which is awesome for me, I have a narrow low volume foot. This is a really great edging shoe if that's what you are looking for. It may not be the best smearing shoe out there with VS Edge rubber but the rubber will last a long time.

The Ultimate All-Purpose Shoe

La Sportiva has nailed it with this shoe. Edging, smearing, heel-hooking, you name it, this shoe can do it. I have climbed in the same pair of Miuras for the past two years now, and they show less wear than my 6-month-old Shamans. The Miuras are second to none when it comes to edging, and the Miura lace-up system allows you to get a glove-like fit out of your shoe. They don't feature the P3 technology like the velcro counterpart, so they will flatten out a bit after use. Understand though that these shoes are not meant to be super aggressive.

I have used these shoes for steep sport climbing, slabby trad climbing, and bouldering, and I can honestly say that they are my favorite shoes. There's nothing I would change about this model (except for the price!)

Five stars, La Sportiva.

The classic all-around shoe. The Miura is a good-enough bouldering shoe, shines on steep, technical sport climbs, and I've even found them bearable on some multipitch trad climbs. Excellent edging and a comfortable fit for narrower, low volume feet. Size 'em down 1.5 - 2 full sizes, depending on if you want a comfortable fit or an extremely precise fit. Mine were 1.5 sizes down from my street shoe and ended up stretching enough to be comfortable as an all-day shoe. Some caveats: They will stain your feet a funky yellow color. It is disgusting. Also, they haven't proven to be as durable as other shoes I've climbed in - I've gone through two pair of these in the time in less time than it took me to go through a pair of Acopa Spectres. Other than that, these are an excellent shoe.

Great shoe

Love these shoes. Feel incredibly secure balancing on tiny footholds, edging etc. Great performance shoes without being too uncomfortable, though not so comfy that you would want to walk off very far in them.

This is my second pair, and I have sized down a half size even though the first pair was quite snug when purchased. They will stretch out a little, though not as much as some shoes. Tough out the discomfort for the first few climbs!

Superb rock show

This is my 2nd pair of these shoes. I have had 5.10's and even Shaman shoes before and always come back to this particular model shoe! I love thee shoes!
They edge great, have a reat pointed toe to fit into small pockets or holds, are comfortable, well constructed and do everyhting WELL from bouldering to friction, to Trad and sport climbing, etc.
I'd NOT hesitate to puchase another pair for a minute!

Great all-around

Great all-around shoe for any type of rock climbing; aggressive enough for bouldering but not too much to impair performance in other, longer or more vertical, types of climbing. No foothold can outmatch the Miura.

Bottom line, these inspire confidence and will go a long way in helping you improve your footwork.

I wear a 10.5 (43.5/44) in street shoes, and a 41.5 in Miuras fit perfectly.

Same great show, smaller new sizing!

Miuras have been my show of choice for years. They are even stickier now with the new rubber. But the sizing has changed by 1/2 a size. I used to be a perfect 41.5 and am now 41. The difference seems to be mainly in the width in the toe box.

Great shoes, just double-check your sizing.

The Best Shoes You Can Buy

I love these shoes. I have been through a pair of 5.10 Ascent and a pair of Evolv Defy, and these are far superior. They have an amazing toe and the rubber is great. I can't judge the sizing accurately, though.

If you have the money, buy these shoes. They are fantastic and they'll outlast most others.
Greg at Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS) on 11/11/2007

wish i'd bought a second pair

I tried on a lot of shoes and this was the only pair that wasn't trying to tear my achilles into shreds.

Performs great and the lace-up helps with sizing adjustments. I'm sized down 2.5 sizes from my street size (39.5 from a 42), so they were tight at first, but broke in nicely.

Negative Reviews:

Soles of Putty Disappoint

The was something wrong with the soles of these shoes. It was as if the rubber hadn't congealed properly. After one 25 ft. climb the soles were cut and torn in numerous places. I completed the same climb with another old pair of shoes with no ill effect on these old shoes. Subsequently, the soles seemed to harden little by little. I have a pair of these same shoes which gave me years of great service. So this problem with the soles was a rude shock.
