Marmot Cloudbreak 30 Long -

The Marmot Cloudbreak 30 is a super cozy synthetic sleeping bag that is versatile enough to handle your outdoor sleeping needs for most of the year. Synthetic insulation (mapped heavier around core and feet) can handle wet conditions and constant compression without losing any heat. This makes it an excellent option for cowboy camping (sleeping out under the stars), or for bivy camping when condensation might otherwise be an issue. Warm enough for early spring and late fall (with cinch hood, full-length draft tube), it can also get you through the summer (the 2-way full-length zipper allows temperature control).

Good Buy for 3-Season Backpacking

I bought this sleeping bag to replace an old sleeping bag that consumed 60% of my storage space. This bag compacts very tightly and fits very nicely in the bottom portions of 3-5 day trip backpacks. I am 6'2 and wide shouldered and the Cloudbreak Long was more than enough space. I slept in this bag 3 nights, at elevations of roughly 10,250-10,850 feet, with low temperatures in the high 30's to low 40's (in late June). I wore only base layer leggings, a base layer top, and normal mid-level gym socks, and I was too warm. So this bag can definitely withstand any of the 3-season temperatures you might experience in the Rocky Mountain high country (but always check the weather reports!). The only drawback with this sleeping bag, keeping it from a perfect score, was the difficulty I had zipping the bag from the inside. The zipping channel did not allow me to make one (or even two) attempts to fluidly zip the bag all the way up. I had to muddle with it for a few moments, in the dark mind you, to finally get it zipped all the way up.

Overall, I am extremely pleased with the portability and warmth of this bag. The zipper problems I had were too minimal to make any real complaints about the bag. The warmth of this bag ensures that your backpacking foray in late September will not be foiled because of a winter-like weather pattern. I like warmer bags because you can always lower the bag temperature by opening up the zipper, or wearing only gym shorts. On the other hand, having a warmer bag will get you through any cold weather hanging over your trip. I do not do winter camping, so this bag is a great, one-time-buy sleeping bag that will cover me in a variety of temperatures.

Good 3-Season Bag

I purchased this bag because I wanted a lighter bag that compressed to a smaller size that what I owned at the time. I went with the long size since it provided a little more room to move around and still packed up small.

I generally get cold easily. I've used this bag for four nights on separate trips and for me it is perfect with just shorts and a light short sleeve t-shirt down to about 50. As it gets in the 40's, I need to add a layer of long underwear and am good to about 45. The lowest I've slept in this bag was 37 degrees and I was quite cool; I found it necessary to add additional layers of clothing to my upper body to stay warm enough to sleep. Based on the bag's temperature rating I had hoped I'd be a little more comfortable in the mid 30's but I don't fault the bag since I get cold so easily.

The bag is really well constructed, the interior and exterior material is great. I have experienced the zipper snagging issue others have mentioned but don't see it as a "major" problem - more of an inconvenience.

Superb workmanship, warmth and comfort

The expert craftsmanship of this sleeping bag shows in every detail, from the durable seams to the roomy footbox. I was recently hammock camping in Allegheny National Forest where we witnessed 30 degF nights. This bag coupled with a lightweight, 3/4 Thermarest (R=~2.5) kept me cozy throughout the night in my ENO Doublenest (though my water-reservoir froze on the ground beneath me). I'm athletically built, 5'8" and had plenty of room in the regular - sleeping on my side with a knee pulled up was not an issue.

This is a solid 3-season bag with fantastic weight-to-warmth ratio at an equally great price.

Note: I was a little skeptical about purchasing this bag with so few reviews available, but I was reassured by REI's unrivaled return policy. That's why I keep buying REI.

Awesome Bag

This sleeping bag is super lightweight and packs down really small with the compression sack that is included. This is perfect for my adventures since I rarely go camping when the temperatures are below freezing and I don't like to carry a big heavy pack around.

I got the smaller sized bag. I'm a short and thin guy(5'5, 29" waist) and the bag fits me well. But it would fit tight if I were much bigger in the waist and chest.

I'm heading up to the Adirondacks in a couple of weeks and I'm excited to have this bag for my trip.

Love it

Love this bag. I'm a taller woman (5'11") and couldn't find any women's bags that were long enough. This is just the right length and provides just enough room to move inside without being too tight. It's maiden voyage was Yosemite National Park and it proved itself by keeping me warm during 30 degree nights. It's also kept me nice and toasty when damp thanks to a leaky tent. The zipper does snag a little once it reaches the very top due to the extra insulation in that area.

Comfy and WARM

Used this on a cross country backpacking trip. Lightweight and warm for the 45F nights. I sleep COLD and this had me overheating (thankfully you have a vent at the feet). The zipper snags, but it's an easy fix if you have even an ounce of patience. Very lightweight. Overall, I'm happy with the product. One other con, the bag would often retain condensation which accumulated in the tent, but quickly dried.

Great bag for the $s!!

I went backpacking in the Big Horn Crags for nearly a week. This bag was extremely comfortable. It was very roomy, I am 6' tall and 220 lbs. I had one night that it got cool, not to the point of uncomfortable but chilly. Over all great bag!

A friend of mine recommeded the sleeping bag to me. I have used it several times, and look forward to using it every time. It holds up very well in cold temperatures. Strong material, great color, packs well.

packs well

I bought because of it's light weight and small packing size.
