Marmot Tamarack Pant Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

These pants are great. They're waterproof and quite breathable so tackling a bit of side country during a resort day is no problem in these. These are however 2-layer, so they're a bit heavy for back country riding (in my opinion at least). I'm 6' with a 29" waist and went with the small. It fits my waist and still provides enough length in the legs (these do run a bit long). Also, the fit is regular so there's no restriction of movement while skiing/boarding. I like the scuff guards around the ankles as well since it keeps me from ruining my pants against snowboard edges and the occasional clumsy kick from my boots.
One problem I ran into however was with the laminated seams. I've never had a problem with laminated seams but the inner right pocket came undone. I didn't want to wait around for a warranty replacement so I just went to my local fabric store and bought fabric super-glue. Fixed the seam just fine and I haven't had a problem since.
Overall: great resort and side-country pants! Hopefully you don't encounter the same problem with the seam.

I actually love these pants as far as functionality is concerned...great waterproofness, insulation and just the right amount of pockets. However, like the previous review stated, they do fit a bit large. I'm 6'1", 200 lbs with a 32" waist and I got a large to be on the safe side but they're rather baggy on me. Accordingly, I recommend going down one size with these. As far as the belt loops are concerned, you can actually feed a belt through the opening where the adjustable tabs are. Initially it didn't make sense to me the way the tabs were set up, but once I figured out where to feed a belt through I was more satisfied with this product.

I just bought this pant in an XL to use as an outerlayer for skiing, touring, etc. Fit was OK with the XL.. I am 6' tall, 210 lbs.. I got to product test this last week in Mammoth, in BLIZZARD conditions-60+ mph winds, blowing snow, etc., on Tuesday,11/23/10 it was a WHITEOUT, and I had to go out into town for food, etc....The pants protected me from all of it...nothing got thru, and I wasn't uncomfortable when hiking thru town in the blizzard for well over 1 1/2 hours. The next 2 days were bluebird and pow...even in the direct sun-with a pair of black pants on, I was completely cool, comfortable and DRY!!! This is good gear!!

I really enjoyed being able to test these pants out. They are warm for a shell, very flexible, and the fabric is high quality. The fit is true to the size and a nice slim looking adult skier pant. The only downside is different colours would be nice, but the black I was able to test was sleek enough to make the purchase a must. I decided to not get the pants only because I was looking for something with more colour. The performance and comfort for skiing in these pants will be missed.

Got these pants last winter, and they've been great for skiing and hiking. They are plenty warm (with a good baselayer when it's cold), the fabric is durable, and the waterproofing is excellent. I purchased a small (I'm 5'7", 150lbs), and they fit well, although I do have to agree with others that they run a bit long. Hardly a reason to pass these up. Overall, excellent value and excellent quality.

Bought these for my husband for Christmas. He loves them! Got a size large for his 35" waist. It was a bit big but able to cinch up the waist and they fit perfectly, especially with a baselayer. He also loves the dark gray color. He wears them for skiing and playing in the snow with the kids. The pants keep him very dry and warm.

Neutral Reviews:

Pros:
-Waterproofing
-Durability
-Well-placed pockets
-Stylish
Cons:
-Runs large (I'm 6ft/185 w/ a 34 inch waist and the large fit too big)
-Only 2 belt loops (both on the front - is it too much to ask for another two loops on the back?)
Overall, I'm satisfied with my purchase for the price - I doubt I'd pay more than 200 for them

Fabric felt nice and durable, but it was way to big. i am 5'5" but the small was about 7-8 inches too long
