Outdoor Research Revel Jacket -
Outdoor Research Revel Jacket for Men Features.

Outdoor Research Revel Jacket for Men.
The Outdoor Research Revel Jacket for Men offers ideal protection, while you are out on an early season trek. Its Pertex Shield makes the jacket waterproof, thus protecting you from the rain, while ensuring breathability at the same time. Featuring water-resistant zippers, the jacket also has an external front zip stormflap. Since it has fully taped seams, you do not need to worry about the jacket chafing your skin. During heavy rains or wind, you can cover your head with the adjustable hood and you can zipped back into the collar when not needed. The elastic cuffs and hook/loop cuff closures make sure that your arms are well protected. Its double-separating center-front zipper provides ventilation. Made from 100% nylon 40D stretch ripstop, the stretch fabric allows for easy movement, hence the jacket is worn when you are out cycling or doing other activities. Gearx

There may be no such thing as one three-season rain garment to rule them all, but the Outdoor Research Revel jacket comes pretty close. With a fabric and feature set that is unique among all rain jackets at GearX, the Revel sets itself apart with its blend of comfort, weight, and packability.

The appeal of the Revel begins with its fabric. A 2.5-layer jacket, the Revel uses Pertex Shield DS fabric with 40 denier nylon face fabric and a silver (the color, not the metal) lining that doesn't feel like any other 2.5-layer lining on the market. It's exceedingly smooth and feels very nice both in the hand and next-to-skin.
From the fabric, we move on to features. The Revel features two zippered hand pockets, and the entire jacket can be stowed inside one of them for easy packing. The hood rolls away into a zippered opening on the collar when not needed, and the sides of the jacket has OR's signature TorsoFlo hem-to-bicep pit zips, which allow you to wear the jacket poncho-style on steamy summer days.

The overall fit of the jacket is trimmer than that of OR's other 2.5-layer offering, the Foray Jacket, and it features elasticized cuffs instead of the larger Velcro cuffs found on the Foray.

Outdoor Research Revel Jacket Reviews:

Reviews:

I spent the extra money on this and I'm glad I did. The small features on this jacket are really nice like the full body side zips. I use it for hiking, backpacking and mountain biking and looks good just wearing it around town. Also good for spring skiing. Hoods folds into the collar. Inside of the collar is super soft. Pockets are accessible even with a pack on. Love it.

Really Awesome Product

A very well designed jacket which has become a favorite quickly. I wear this as a shell over an Marmot 800 pill down coat. They work well together offering great wind and rain protection with superior warmth.

The only small problem is the sleeve length is too long for me, I had to roll up the sleeves which means I lose the velcro closing feature.

Although I was initially somewhat disappointed when I received the Revel jacket because I thought it might be too clammy, I have since realized that it breathes very well and is comfortable in wet/windy weather. It's not the most stylish jacket, but it works.
