The North Face Greenland Zip II Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

First, I want to say that I love this boot! It is exactly what I was looking for when I began my hunt for pull-on snow boots. They are sturdy, warm and comfortable... but definitely order almost a entire size up from your norm if you want to wear socks! These unfortunately had to go back because I couldn't find a pair that zipped all the way up because of my calf size. There seems to be a lot of variance in the shaft circumference (I even went up a size, and those boots were smaller than the previous). I wanted to let everyone know also about the zippers. I have noticed a lot of complaints about the zippers on North Face boots, and after trying on 5 pairs, I think I have figured out the issue. The North Face really doesn't reinforce their zippers well on the insides or the tops of their boots. Their is no way that little flap on the inside is going to stay in place while wearing them and they don't continue any of the shearling around the top, so you get a gap that lets in cold air and also rubs. These are great boots, but I expect more attention to detail for this amount of money and a brand like The North Face.

I ordered 3 boots to compare. The North Face Greenland Zip II, the Sorel Waterfall Slip and Kamik's Taos. The North Face boot felt the toughest- it has a stiff leather upper, inside the toe box it is snug with insulation, the sole felt the stiffest. The Kamik boot was the lightest. The nylon upper was very flexible as was the sole- nice for walking in. My foot had a lot of space inside as there is less insulation. My heel lifted quite a bit but I think extra socks would help both these issues. The Sorel was a comfortable boot, easy to walk in with more support than the Kamik. It looked nice with the suede exterior, but I worry that it won't hold up to a season's worth of slush. Ultimately, I am going to choose the North Face Greenland boot because I will occasionally use it for snow shoeing and need the rugged stiffness.

Great Boot but Too Small

I work outside in the winter and need a boot that will keep my feet dry and warm. I like the fact that it zips up, however I wear a size 9 shoe and found this to be a very tight fit. My feet are narrow, and I guess I waiver between between being a size 9 and 9.5. Size 10s are always too big for me no matter what kind of shoe. I had a hard time getting my feet in and once they were in, there was no extra room for socks. Since I do like the boots, I will return and hopefully the size 9.5 will fit better. Overall great boot, excellent quality.

I have to agree with others that these boots run small. However, I took that into account and ordered a size larger than I typically were in other shoes/boots. While they are a little stiff - at least at first - they are super warm! I haven't had a chance to use them to snowshoe yet, however I broke them in well just showling out the past few snows. My feet are always cold, now matter what I am doing. But with these boots I was completely unware of my feet for the first time in years!

Super warm and comfortable boots.

These boots are worth every penny. I took them with me on a trip to Oslo in December; they are incredibly warm and kept my feet dry. Not even a hint of cold penetrated these boots. I wore them all day most days, and becaues they do fit true to size (I ordered a size 9, and they fit perfectly), they didn't rub or cause blisters. I just wore them with a single pair of wool socks every day - they are great to wear all day walking around the city. Definitely recommend

I am on my second winter with my North Face Boots and they have served me well. I wore them today with my snowshoes. My feet stayed toasty warm the entire afternoon. The boots are extremely comfortable and have not packed down. I would say I will get many more years of use out of them. I also love the fact that they zip. No laces to come lose or break. Fabulous boots, would definitely recommend!

These are the best snowboots. Thick soles to keep your feet warm. Warm as well. I spend a fair time standing outside in the cold these were amazing. They are waterproof and have a good grip. I take a US 11 and the 11 was fine with socks. These are snow boots not Uggs and therefore won't feel like slippers. I would certainly buy another pair!

Very comfy and warm, but runs very small

I always wear the same size shoe, boot, sandal, etc. Once i received my order I was very excited, but when I tried them on I could barely move my toes, and my foot was slightly suffocated. I recommend this boot, but you may want to order the next size up!

I haven't had a chance to try them out in the snow/ice yet, but they are extremely comfortable and stylish. Had a pair of Columbia boots and the rubber rotted and cracked in 2 years time! Hope I have great success with Northface

Negative Reviews:

I ordered 2 pairs, one for my Friend and one for me. I ordered up on both pairs; one size 9 (for me) the other a size 10. I pulled out one box not realizing the size and tried them on. They were the size 10's. Couldn't believe how small they were. I also thought I left some packaging inside the boot because around my heal was very uncomfortable. I realized it was the insole that came up around the heal. I a'm normally an 8 1/2, in these boots I would have needed an 11. Very unhappy, one pair was to be a Christmas present.

When I moved to interior Alaska, I bought these boots in anticipation for the common -40 and -50 below. At the first wear at -30, these kept my feet really toasty and continued to do so. But after a week I ended up having something like an allergic reaction to something in the boots, and I got calluses on my shins.Tried wearing them a couple times and got the same result every time. Had to return them. If you've got sensitive skin, these aren't the boots for you.

I bought these shoes last year, for the cold winters in Russia, unfortunately they have not justified, they are already cold when-5C and slippery, they are heavy and awkward! I am very unhappy, and I do not wear them.
Diana R - customer at Zappos.com on 11/28/2011

Due to the size running small, they were difficult to put on, back of boot was too stiff and uncomfortable. I returned them.

Women's Greenland zip II Boots

They were tight even a half size larger and seemed bulky to me.
