These pants have been a pleasant surprise in how well they have held up to hundreds of miles hiking on the PCT, not to mention all the other activity I've put them through when not kicking dirt and hauling a pack.
You have to be careful not to wash them with the leg sections detached, though. Such action can be very rough on the leg section zippers that attach the aforementioned sections to the upper part of the pant that goes around the waist.
They shed water and other liquids decently, and as long as you make sure to monitor the DWR status, I believe they would continue to provide some minor water resistance.
Plan on using these to continue hiking or doing general outdoorsing in whenever I finish the trail, but overall, I would recommend to someone looking for a relaxed but uninhibiting fit style pant.
Compared to the REI Endeavor, this pant has better breathability, looser fit, and no full-length zip-offs (so with certain boots will require you to remove the boot before zipping off the lower leg). The zipper around the zip-off shorts is also much better protected against the leg, reducing chafing (compared to the Endeavor).
For my taste, the zip-off section and the looser fit (I wear 28"-29" jeans but the 28" Cruz is extremely loose around my waist) I rated this a 4. Otherwise, in most aspects it's a superior pant to the Endeavor for warmer climates, comfort, and flexibility.
I own three pair of these pants! Very flexible and breathable. I'm 5'7 and about 165-170lbs and use the 32" waist in the short version.
Water repelling will repel dew or anything similar. If it's a heavy downpour you can expect your legs to get wet. However, it doesn't take to long for these pants to dry. I typically just hang them up at night and they are ready to go in the morning.
I have worn these for years, and love them.
Dry quickly, pretty light, plenty of pocket space, love the zip-off bottoms for warmer weather/getting in the water, face material deflects moisture/shrubbery very well.
I can spend days in the backcountry with a single pair of these and no worries.
Gotten 2 of it. Light weight and breathable. Love its Flexibility. Will be getting my third.
