I've used these as a cold-weather pant for several years and they've never let me down. They're water resistant enough to deal with slushy snow or light rain all day, and breathe well while you're on the move. They are a bit much when temperatures get into the 60's. The gaiters work well to keep snow out, and the ankle zips work okay for ventilation. The slightly slim fit is what I really like about these pants - great for being on the move in the mountains. Only complaints are that the hand pocket zippers busted after one season of use, and I've never had any use for the bulky cargo pocket. Overall an excellent winter pant for XC skiing, snowshoeing, cold-weather climbing, mountaineering, etc. Too warm for most summer trips though.
I have had these for a few weeks and used them at least 3 days a week for everything from hiking to night Broncos games and shoveling snow around Denver. They are a great light weight soft shell pant. I wish they were a bit heavier and warmer but with a good base layer under them they do the job. They are pretty wind proof and have stood up to some heavy snow.
The fit is definitely what I would consider athletic as they are a bit slimmer than I would have expected but for me run true to size for waist and inseam.
I would definitely recommend these for high output activities in all but harsh conditions.
They are also very stretchy but hold a crease or wrinkle for a very long time.
I got these looking for a pair of versatile pants during the winter. I've used them primarily on rainy days on my bike to and from class and they work so well. I wear them around just because they're so comfortable (also probably because they're new still). I got a 32 long and I'm 6'2" and 165 lbs. I probably could've gotten the regular length an been ok, but the ankle zippers allow for tightening the bottoms to fit around the top of my shoe so I don't step on them at all. I can't wait to put them in the witty weather that's coming to see how they perform.
Good fit and very comfortable. I wore these glissading down 4,000 ft. They held up well but do show some wear in the butt. The stretch fabric allowed me put on the pants while leaving on my ascent shoes. I stayed warm and mostly dry. My butt was a little wet but nothing to complain about. I bought these just for glissading but they were also great camp pants too. I would not hike in these unless it was well below freezing or a slow cool casual hike. When these wear out I will buy another.
Huge fan of these pants, ended up buying two pair and planning on a third the next time they go on sale (trying to collect the whole set!). I use these pants for everything from tailgating to cool-weather bike riding to casual days in the office. Very comfortable, very durable. Run a bit big in the waist. I'm ~5'10", ~215 lbs and normally squeeze in to a 36" pant in other brands and these fit a bit loose in the waist. 30" inseam is perfect on me.
Hi,
I recently purchased your the Marmot Scree soft shell pants which I was very pleased with the performance of the pants. I am a full time fire fighter/Search & Rescue Volunteer and constantly needing to wear gear suited for the backcountry. I was on a rescue mission of a lost Canadian in Australia on Mt. Kosciusko . We encountered a variety of weather & conditions. My pants were incredibly comfortable, durable and maintained great in the harsh conditions. I would recommend them to anyone.

I have worn my Scree with varying base layers in temp ranges from 5 degrees to 50 degrees. They are great. They cut the wind, stretch where needed but don’t feel confining. I have even done some glasading in them and my butt stayed dry.
My wife and I are both wearing scree in the photo. Only downside on the womans scree is no belt loops. Mine have them.
More of an athletic fit, I'm tall 6'2" 175lbs (32x34) and the 32 Reg worked out well, the 32 long would have been too long. I could probably wear them without a belt as they are bit stretchy.
I love these pants for backcountry skiing in the spring or for any of those days when the forecast doesn't call for a major snow storm. In the summer time I usually go to something even lighter.
Great for most weather conditions that aren't extremes. You can also tackle extreme conditions or long term exposure with base layers. You can't go wrong with these pants, you'll love.
I really wanted to like these pants, both for the mid-lightweight material and the sale price, but the fit was a problem. For reference, I wear a size 33 waist in Levis. I ordered the 34 reg, which was baggy everywhere. Even with an expedition weight fleece base layer under these, they were too big. So I ordered a size 32 reg, which would have been a better fit if I did not plan to wear a base layer under them. With a midweight base layer, they were just slightly tight.
I ended up returning both and ordering the OR Cirque pants, which were even worse in the size gap between the M and L size!
